**First Time At Auction**

Pre-Columbian, Valley of Mexico, Teotihuacan, ca. 3rd to 7th century CE. A set of 2 ovoid pendants bearing macabre openwork motifs, each hand-carved from mammal bone. The first pendant features a pair of left-facing skulls stacked one on top the other. The larger pendant features a right-facing canine creature along the bottom half and a partial, left-facing human skull on top. Each piece has developed fine layers of dark brown patina across their respective surfaces. Size of largest: 0.49" L x 1.29" W x 3.66" H (1.2 cm x 3.3 cm x 9.3 cm); 6.4" H (16.3 cm) on included custom stand.

Provenance: private Hawaii, USA collection; ex-Barney G. Malone collection, Alamo, Texas, USA, acquired between 1963 and 1970
