Description:

**Originally Listed At $350**

Central or Eastern Europe, Bronze Age, ca. 1200 to 800 BCE. A group of three ancient coiled bronze bracelets, each made from a flat bronze wire tightly wound into petite wrist cuffs. Their alloy composition - predominantly copper with varying amounts of tin - suggests production within the Late Bronze Age, when bronze jewelry flourished across Europe from the Danubian basin to the Alpine and Carpathian regions. These bracelets may have been personal adornments, worn singly or in pairs, or served as items of status, ritual use, or even proto-currency, as such coiled forms often doubled as trade wealth. Each exhibits a stable dark green and brown patina, evidence of long burial and age. Size of largest: 2.45" Diameter x 1" W (6.2 cm x 2.5 cm)

Provenance: ex-Phoenicia Holyland Antiquities, New York, New York, USA, acquired before 2010
