Description:

**Originally Listed At $300**

Central Asia, Tibet, ca. 17th to 19th century CE. A group of three copper-alloy thokcha (thogchag) amulets comprising two buckle clasps fitted with leather loop straps and a circular openwork disc centered by a fu lion creature. The two buckles share a related structure, each with the lower strap loop shaped by confronting dragons whose bodies frame a small zoomorphic face at the midpoint, while the upper registers differ slightly, one incorporating a flowering vase. All three pieces show heavy wear and softened detail from long use and handling, and the attached leather straps appear to be later replacements added for continued wear or display. Thokcha are small amulets and fittings, originally used as horse-harness buckles, fibulae, and clasps, these pieces were later made and worn by subsequent generations as protective ornaments for clothing and personal gear, often depicting real or legendary creatures as conduits of spiritual protection. Size of largest: 2.25" Diameter (5.7 cm)
