Description:

**Originally Listed At $350**

North Africa, Tunisia, Amazigh (Berber) culture, ca. early to mid-20th century CE. A beautiful collection of eleven traditional silver jewelry adornments, including six fibula-style brooch pins, one circular pendant, and four pendants in the shape of the Hand of Fatima - also known as the Hamsa, Khamsa, or Hamesh - a symbol believed to offer protection from the evil eye. Fibulae were functional ornaments traditionally worn by Amazigh women to fasten draped garments across the shoulders, often worn daily. Their triangular forms and foliate motifs are deeply symbolic, representing fertility and prosperity. The large circular pendant is intricately pierced to depict a crescent moon encircling a five-pointed star, further evoking themes of cosmic protection and spiritual harmony. Size of large fibula: 3.3" L x 1.5" W (8.4 cm x 3.8 cm); silver quality: 83% to 88%: total combined weights: 78.7 grams

Provenance: private Bell Buckle, Tennessee, USA collection, by descent, acquired in Tunisia before 1969
