Description:

Pre-Columbian, West Mexico, Chupicuaro, ca. 500 to 100 BCE. An ensemble of 2 hand-built pottery vessels including a jar and a bowl. The bowl features dense, red-painted linear patterns around the basin walls, and the basin center is incised similarly to a fish-grating bowl but perhaps for more decorative purposes. The larger jar is of spherical form with a flared rim and a pair of pierced suspension lugs, and the upper body is adorned with red pigment and faint negative resist motifs. Size (jar): 6.30" Diameter x 7.125" H (16 cm x 18.1 cm); (bowl): 7.25" L x 7.2" W x 3.1" H (18.4 cm x 18.3 cm x 7.9 cm)
