Description:

Pre-Columbian, South Coast Peru, Huari (Wari) culture, ca. 700 to 1000 CE. A wonderful selection of two vibrant textile panel fragments composed of tightly woven camelid (alpaca or llama wool) fibers in hues of crimson, aqua, beige, wheat, cream, and chocolate. The first panel depicts a standing figure with a bright blue headdress and a single black-and-white eye, perhaps indicative of a warrior or a priest. The second panel features an abstract zoomorphic creature with a myriad of wondrous shapes that constitute its head and body. Mounted on beige fabric stretched over a wooden display frame. Size (figure): 10.4" W x 6.3" H (26.4 cm x 16 cm); (frame): 11" W x 7" H (27.9 cm x 17.8 cm); (creature): 10.8" W x 5.125" H (27.4 cm x 13 cm); (frame): 11.6" W x 6.25" H (29.5 cm x 15.9 cm)
