Central Asia, Indo-Persian, ca. 19th to early 20th century CE. A pair of framed paintings rendered in vibrant gouache. One appears to be a Rajasthani miniature, depicting an aristocratic figure seated on a carpet in an outdoor setting, possibly within a courtly or narrative context. The other is likely an antique Persian manuscript page that was later overpainted with the image of an Indian maiden, richly adorned like a traditional bride, reaching toward a peacock perched in a tree - framed by calligraphic Arabic script above and below. The first work of the man bears hallmarks of the Rajasthani miniature tradition, which emerged in the royal courts of Rajasthan between the 16th and 19th centuries and is known for its intricate detail, vivid palette, and narrative richness drawn from epics, folklore, and court life. The woman appears to be a 20th century sale piece. Both are presented in a modern frame, ready for display. - Condition: Both are professionally mounted in modern frames under glass. Not examined outside of frames. Stain to the edge and small loss to pigment in two areas on the man painting. The woman is probably a modern painting over a antique page and is in god condition.
