Native American, Southeastern United States, Mississippian culture, ca. 1200 to 1600 CE. A pair of pottery jars, each presenting a round yet stable base, a bulbous body, and a slightly attenuated neck. The body of the larger is adorned with Parkin Punctated dashes, while the neck features Barton Incised decoration of diagonal striations. All is surmounted by a flared rim flanked by a pair of vertical, loop handles. Alternatively, the more petite vessel displays a smooth body with a single, horizontal row of nodules, known as Banks Noded design, sitting atop the sloped shoulder. A lone vertical handle stretches from rim to shoulder. Size of larger (incised jar): 9.1" Diameter x 6" H (23.1 cm x 15.2 cm)

- Condition: Larger has chipping along rim with area of loss to rim and neck, as well as visible fissure that stretches from rim to base and has been reenforced with adhesive. More petite vessel has some restoration along rim as shown, as well as chipping and some loss. Also missing one handle. Both have earthen deposits to surface.
