Pre-Columbian, Central America, Costa Rica, Nicoya region, ca. 800 to 1200 CE. A set of 2 hand-built pottery vessels decorated with elaborate red and black motifs atop a beige-hued ground. The first vessel is a footed bowl with intricate linear details and petite rattle balls within the hollow foot. The larger jar is of tapered, round-bottomed form and features a stylized zoomorphic head protruding out from the top of the shoulder. Size of largest: 6.94" W x 6.5" H (17.6 cm x 16.5 cm); (footed bowl): 5.1" W x 3.4" H (13 cm x 8.6 cm)

Provenance: private Stillwater, Oklahoma, USA collection, acquired 1969 to 1970; ex-Dr. Jorge Lineas, San Jose, Costa Rica
