Roman, Great Britain, Romano-British, ca. 2nd to 4th century CE. A rare set of 2 bronze prick spurs that were once worn behind the heels of boots. The cruciform spur features a petite frontal spike, ovoid buttons, and remains of red enamel visible incise all 4 circular terminals. The larger spur exhibits a wider form, a longer spike, and remains of red and white enamel within both discoid buttons. Green and blue-green patina has formed across both accessories. Size of largest: 1.5" L x 2.3" W (3.8 cm x 5.8 cm)

Provenance: private Denver, Colorado, USA collection, acquired in the 1960's
