Pre-Columbian, West Mexico, Nayarit,Chinesco, ca. 300 BCE to 300 CE. Perhaps the most desirable of all Nayarit pottery styles. An unusually large Chinesca pottery female standing with legs slightly apart, nude save large nose ring, typical triangular-shaped head, coffee bean eyes and arms wrapped under her small awkwardly placed breasts. Covered in thick deep red slip, now spotted with manganese blooms. A very nice example of a very nice size! Size: 15" H (38.1 cm)

Provenance: Ex-private Scollard collection, acquired before 1990
