Pre-Columbian, Ecuador, Valdivian culture, Formative Period, ca. 2000 to 1500 BCE. A hand-built pottery male figure of rare ithyphallic form that stands with a rigid posture and bears an amusing grin on his face. The highly burnished surfaces are decorated with a burnished russet hue while the head bears remains of dark brown pigment. Size: 0.875" L x 1" W x 2.6" H (2.2 cm x 2.5 cm x 6.6 cm); 4.2" H (10.7 cm) on included custom stand.
