Description:

Pre-Columbian, Veracruz, Mexico, ca. 450 to 650 CE. An enigmatic pottery "Coast Watcher" figure kneeling and gazing forward. The female figure has painted eyes, an incredible headdress, large ear plugs, and a necklace. She appears to wear a short skirt. A perforation through the upper center of the headdress may have allowed this to be worn. Her body is a whistle, with the mouthpiece as the tripod leg. The name "Coast Watcher" is apropos given the watchful nature of this style of figure, whose true meaning has been lost to time. Size: 3.3" W x 4.45" H (8.4 cm x 11.3 cm)
