Description:

Pre-Columbian, Mexico, Veracruz culture, also known as Totonac (Totonaca), Remojadas, ca. 300 to 600 CE. A stunning pottery head whose deepset eyes stare out at the viewer from underneath a heavy, furrowed brow. The figure has a striking beard, a very rare depiction in Mesoamerican pottery, and as well as a clearly depicted widow's peak. He wears a large headdress with a shell-like crest and several long decorative elements suggesting a tied ribbon at the back of the head. Size: 4.4" W x 5.85" H (11.2 cm x 14.9 cm); 7" H (17.8 cm) on included custom stand.
