Pre-Columbian, Gulf Coast Mexico, ca. 550-950 CE. Another slide terracotta whistling flute depicting a standing lord with a wheel behind his back representing the Sun, arms raised in adoration to God. He's wearing a long dress, his face protected by a ring-like adornment covering his mouth. His enormous headdress flanked by feather ornaments as is the Top. Two birds left and right, palettes dangling over his eyes. Remains of post-fired polychrome colors. 13"T x 6"W. Provenance: Ex-Katz Collection, NY; ex-Everett Museum, Syracuse, NY. The starting price is the lowest price at which the piece can sell.
