North America, USA Southwest, Native American, probably Navajo (Dine), ca. mid 20th century CE. A stunning necklace! This piece is comprised of seven massive stone turquoise nuggets, each one perforated for stringing and polished but with most of the natural surface and shape untouched. The stones are strung on a wire with dozens of small white shell disc beads, known as heishi, with two silver conical terminals and hook clasps. This necklace is wearable and certainly for someone who wants to make a statement! Length of necklace: 25" L (63.5 cm); size of largest stone: 2.25" L x 2.5" W (5.7 cm x 6.4 cm); total weight: 443.4 grams
