Native American, Southwestern United States, Navajo tribe, ca. early to mid 20th century CE. Two lovely necklaces of a similar size, both comprised of dozens of hand carved heishi shell beads and strung on thread with wire hook clasps. Heishi are small disc or tube shaped beads used in traditional southwestern Native American jewelry. The larger necklace has dozens of white disc heishi with three sections of nine turquoise beads. The smaller necklace has creamy white flat disc beads combined with brown flecked beads with a slightly curved surface. Both are wearable, fine works of traditional Native American jewelry! Size of necklace (w/ turquoise): 15.25" L (38.7 cm); (necklace w/o turquoise): 14.75" L (37.5 cm)

Provenance: private Boulder, Colorado, USA collection acquired 2020; ex- old private Gallup, New Mexico, USA collection, acquired in the 1970s
