Description:

East Asia, China, Warring States Period (Eastern Zhou Dynasty)., ca. 400 - 201 BCE. An impressive Chinese bronze socketed spearhead of elongated, leaf-shaped form, cast with a prominent medial ridge and a tubular socket for hafting. The blade is flanked by finely executed openwork panels, creating a striking combination of strength and visual refinement. The socket is further embellished with incised geometric and scroll motifs characteristic of late Eastern Zhou decorative traditions, and retains lateral loops and apertures for secure attachment to a wooden shaft. One of the finest examples we have ever seen! Size of spear itself: 3.25" W x 11.5" H x 1.125" D (8.3 cm W x 29.2 cm H x 2.9 cm D)

This piece has been tested for the presence or absence of particular elements via XRF elemental analysis and is consistent with metals of this period.
