Roman, Imperial Period, ca. 1st to 4th century CE. A wonderful gathering of dozens of hand-carved and hand-polished carnelian beads of various shapes and hues. The beads range from lozenge, tubular, spherical, and barrel forms with warm vermilion and creamy white hues. The beads are arranged in a symmetrical and a balanced fashion with a large rounded pendant bead in the center. This necklace fits closely to the neck and is made wearable with a modern gold plated lobster clasp. A lovely collection of ancient beads that are perfect to wear for many occasions! Size of necklace: 15" L (38.1 cm); largest bead: .5" W (1.3 cm)
