Description:

Roman, Imperial Period, ca. 1st to 3rd century CE. A highly wearable and lovely necklace comprised of over 70 ancient carnelian and glass beads. The beads range in size and shape from spherical, seed, barrel, and tubular to faceted. The carnelian stones are a warm vermillion hue with swirls of creamy white inclusions. There is a singular glass bead with a pink tone that blends nicely with the rest of the carnelians. The beads are arranged in a pleasingly symmetrical pattern and two larger beads form a central pendant. The necklace is strung in modern times with modern golden spacer beads and a lobster clasp, so it is perfectly wearable and would make a great addition to any jewelry collection! Size necklace: 22" L (55.9 cm); largest bead: .25" W (0.6 cm)
