Description:

Western Europe, probably English or French, World War I era, ca. 1914 to 1918 CE. A hand-carved wooden mace used when storming enemy trenches or defending one's own trench. The stocky wooden handle tapers along the lower end before terminating in a bulbous pommel used to maintain one's grip when swung. Protruding from the head are nine narrow iron barbs between three curved, riveted iron panels used to inflict devastating injuries against the enemy. Size: 16.6" L x 2.875" W (42.2 cm x 7.3 cm)
