Description:

Western/Central Europe, Germany, World War I era, ca. 1916 to 1918 CE. A German trench club fashioned from the steel shell and wooden handle of a disarmed Model 1916 (M16) stick grenade (known as a stielhandgranate in German). Trench clubs like this example were made when conducting raids of enemy trenches during nighttime operations where explosives or firearms could give away one's position. Trench clubs were also incredibly easy to make and did not require the hand of a trained weaponsmith to do so. Size: 13.7" L x 2.1" W (34.8 cm x 5.3 cm)
