Europe, ca. 1917 CE. This is a piece of trench art from a German shell that depicts a finely detailed gladiator. The original ordinance that this has been carved from was manufactured by Patronenfabrik Karlsruhe in July 1917. On the bottom, you can also see the "flaming bombs" mark that is found on all cartridges made by this company for the Army and the Navy. Size: 3.2" W x 9" H (8.1 cm x 22.9 cm).
