Description:

Native American, Southwest United States, Zuni, ca. 1930 to 1950 CE. Vintage Zuni petit point jewelry is some of the most impressive Native American jewelry and this beautiful ring is a fine example comprised of sterling silver and petit point oval and pear shaped turquoise stones and one jet stone, hand-cut by a Zuni lapidarist. Signed "TXX" on the underside, this example boasts remarkable handiwork and beauty. Breathtaking wearable art that is made nowhere else in the world! Size: ring size 8-1/4 to 8-1/2 with central motif that measures 1-1/8" in diameter; 4.6 grams.

Zuni artisans are known for their intricate work and their meticulous attention to detail. The Zuni are also highly respected for their stonework and almost never create plain silver jewelry, as they are known for their natural turquoise from the infamous Sleeping Beauty Mine. Petit point is one of their most traditional styles and pieces use sterling silver and small, hand-selected turquoise stones. Provenance: Ex-Historia Antiques, Santa Monica, CA.
