United States, ca. 1875 CE. An impressive $20 Liberty Head double eagle reeded edge gold coin, struck in 90% gold, equivalent to over 21K! The obverse displays Liberty facing left, her hair bound with pearls and a coronet inscribed LIBERTY, surrounded by thirteen stars representing the original colonies and the date 1875 below. The reverse bears the Great Seal of the United States, featuring a heraldic eagle with a shield on its breast, clutching arrows and an olive branch, with the legend UNITED STATES OF AMERICA and denomination TWENTY D. encircling the rim, and IN GOD WE TRUST above the eagle's head. The "S" mintmark is below the eagle's tail, above the 'TWENTY.' This issue was minted in San Francisco during the post-Civil War Reconstruction era, when California's gold reserves continued to sustain national coinage.   • Condition: VG (Very Good) or closer to VF (Very Fine). Softening to raised details. Liberty's hair and coronet show moderate wear, "Liberty" inscription on coronet is soft and worn. Even toning with minimal nicks. Strong with good rim definition.
