Description:

North America, United States, California, San Francisco, ca. 1903 CE. A 1903 Liberty Head 10 Dollar Gold Eagle from the San Francisco Mint, this very fine example offers strong detail, warm color, and the historic appeal collectors look for in pre-1933 U.S. gold. Liberty's portrait remains clear beneath her coronet, framed by thirteen stars, while the reverse shows a well-defined heraldic eagle with the 'S' mint mark positioned just below. Designed by Christian Gobrecht, the United States Mint's third chief engraver, the Liberty Head series was produced from the mid-1800s until 1907 and reflects the classical style that defined American coinage throughout the 19th century. Struck in a 90 percent gold and 10 percent copper alloy, the coin weighs 16.7 grams and contains 0.4806 troy ounces of pure gold. Size: 1.0585" Diameter (2.7 cm)

Gold eagles from 1903 were minted in relatively small numbers, and countless pieces were later melted, making surviving examples increasingly scarce. As a result, these classic U.S. gold coins hold collector value far beyond their bullion content, offering both historical significance and long-term investment potential. This coin is a well-preserved representative of one of America's most iconic gold denominations and a solid addition for buyers seeking vintage U.S. gold with dependable numismatic appeal.
