Description:

East Asia, Korea, Joseon Dynasty, ca. 18th to 19th century CE. A luminous porcelain jar glazed in soft celadon tones, embodying the restrained elegance characteristic of late Joseon ceramics. The vessel is fashioned with a broad, rounded body that gently swells at the shoulders before tapering to a short, recessed foot. Its wide, upright mouth rim is neatly everted, lending balance to the jar's otherwise understated form. The glaze, a pale bluish-green with subtle pooling, covers the jar in a translucent sheen that hints at the traditions of Goryeo celadon while reflecting the Joseon court's preference for simplicity and purity of form. Faint crackle and minute firing imperfections add to its quiet charm, bearing witness to its age and kiln process. Such jars were utilitarian yet refined, used for storing grains, liquids, or condiments, while their elegant symmetry reflects the Confucian ideals of modesty and harmony prized during the dynasty. Size: 7.5" Diameter x 4" H (19 cm x 10.2 cm)

This jar, with its understated celadon glaze and serene silhouette, captures the timeless beauty of Joseon porcelain.
