Description:

United States, ca. 1920s-1940s CE. An Egyptian Revival jewelry suite, likely the work of Miriam Haskell, produced during the height of Art Deco fascination with ancient Egypt. The set includes a wide collar necklace, a hinged bracelet, and a pair of clip-on earrings, each composed of gilt brass filigree links and fittings enhanced with vivid blue ancient Egyptian faience tube beads and rich red coral beads. The necklace presents as a bold collar with tiered beadwork and a secure push clasp; the earrings are clip-back style with gilt rosettes suspending multiple bead dangles; and the matching bracelet is designed with a hinged pin clasp and a filigree clasp plate. Size of necklace: 16" L x 2.25" W (40.6 cm x 5.7 cm); bracelet: 7" L x 1.5" W (17.8 cm x 3.8 cm); earring: 2.3" L x 1" W (5.8 cm x 2.5 cm); gold quality: 1%

Miriam Haskell (1899-1981) was an American jewelry designer who rose to fame in the 1920s for her bold, hand-crafted costume jewelry, often incorporating glass beads, faux pearls, and gilt filigree. Her pieces, celebrated for their artistry and quality, became highly collectible and were worn by Hollywood stars and society elites throughout the mid-20th century. Egyptian Revival jewelry of this type, popular between the 1920s and 1940s, captured the glamour of the Jazz Age and Hollywood while drawing inspiration from the discovery of Tutankhamun’s tomb in 1922. This beautifully coordinated suite exemplifies that movement, balancing exotic motifs with the craftsmanship of early 20th-century couture costume jewelry.
