Western Europe & United States, ca. early to mid-20th century CE. A charming and eclectic assemblage of early 20th-century writing and drafting instruments. Included is a British brass and steel-tipped divider caliper marked W&HC on the screw pivot, a nickel-brass Sheaffer mechanical pencil with a subtle etched zig-zag pattern, stamped Pat. Nov 5 '18, Made in U.S.A.; an Artamount Italy brass hourglass, a three-minute timer likely used for monitoring the costly three-minute billing increments of long-distance calls; a tiny sterling silver pen pendant with finely chased scrolling motifs; and a Sheaffer silver-plated mechanical pencil (43% silver). Also present is a miniature brass fob watch tool with a push-button top for adjusting the case size; a sterling silver mechanical pencil engraved with a name; a sterling silver Wahl Eversharp mechanical pencil; and the largest piece, a nickel-brass multi-color mechanical pen with four rotating nib colors activated by pushing and twisting the top.
