Greece, Macedon / Thrace, ca. 4th to 3rd century BCE. A beautiful necklace composed of alternating pale purple amethyst and soft green glass beads, centered by a gold-set ancient Greek silver drachma coin. The coin, with a high silver purity of 98%, is struck in the name and style of Alexander the Great. The obverse features the head of Herakles facing right, wearing the iconic lion skin headdress, while the reverse depicts Zeus seated left on a throne, holding a long scepter. The strand is wearable and finished with a gold push clasp. Size of strand: 16" L (40.6 cm); coin pendant: 0.75" Diameter (1.9 cm); gold quality: 57% to 62% (13K+ to 15K); silver quality: 98%
