Description:

Roman, Imperial Period, ca. 2nd century CE. This necklace features a strand of ribbed glass beads in a soft violet hue, each individually knotted on cobalt thread for both durability and visual contrast. At the center hangs an authentic Roman silver denarius, dating to the reign of Emperor Hadrian (117-138 CE). The obverse is Hadiran's laureate head right. The reverse of the coin bears the inscription VICTORIA AVG, depicting Victory-Nemesis advancing left, holding a branch and raising a fold of her robe drapery from her neck - a personification of divine retribution and balance - symbolizing Roman victory and justice. The coin is beautifully framed in a modern custom-fitted circular bezel of 16-karat gold (approximately 68% purity), secured with a complementary gold push clasp (approximately 14-karat / 58.5% purity), blending antique gravitas with contemporary elegance. Size of strand: 22" L (55.9 cm); pendant: 0.7" Diameter (1.8 cm); gold quality: 58% to 68% (equivalent to 14K to 16K+); silver quality: 96%
