Description:

Aztec Empire, ca. 1350 - 1520 CE. Carved, red volcanic stone male figure, squatting on his haunches with hands resting on knees, wearing a feathered headdress, wide head band decorated with large raised circular discs and large ear spools. Integral rectangular base is decorated on all sides with registers containing a series of carved discs. Drilled cavity in chest. A beautiful example. Size: 14”H x 8.75”L x 6.75”W (35.6 x 22.2 x 17.1cm) at base.
