Description:

East Asia, Japan, Meiji Era, ca. 19th to early 20th century CE. A fine and massive Imari porcelain charger, measuring an impressive 2 feet in diameter (61 cm), featuring a vibrant polychrome and underglaze blue landscape with gold gilt highlights. The central scene depicts a dynamic mountainous riverscape with pine trees, boats, and distant flying cranes - likely referencing the iconic imagery of Mt. Fuji. The border is adorned with hexagonal floral medallions in deep iron-red, turquoise, and white tones. The reverse features foliate and blue scrollwork and is fitted with an applied metal wall hanger for secure vertical display. The substantial scale and bold artistry make this an outstanding statement piece for interior design or collection display. Minor expected surface wear commensurate with age, otherwise excellent condition. Size: 24" Diameter x 3.5" H (61 cm x 8.9 cm)
