East Asia, China, Qing Dynasty, ca. 19th to early 20th century CE. A brass champleve leaded-enamel censer or brazier bowl with a broad flaring rim and rounded body, wrapped by a vivid frieze of archaistic taotie masks, scrolling chilong forms, and stylized cloud motifs in turquoise, red, green, cream, and deep blue. The enamel panels are set flush within their brass partitions, while the upper and lower bronze registers are molded with concentric diamond patterns and the lower body is accented with low-relief taotie mask appliques. Includes a custom iron display stand for stable presentation. Size: 17.5" W x 14" H (44.4 cm x 35.6 cm); 27" H (68.6 cm) on included custom stand.
