**Originally Listed At $350**
re-Columbian, Valley of Mexico, Tlatilco, ca. 1200 to 800 BCE. A graceful and finely-formed D-4 type 'pretty lady' figure from this very early ancient culture of the Americas. Clearly a fertility idol, she presents ample hips indicative of child-bearing as well as attenuated arms, small perky breasts, a slender waist, and a voluptuous buttocks. Her face is elongated with slanted slit eyes, round earspools, a petite nose, and a prominent brow ridge, all topped by a cap-like headdress decorated with twin rounded protrusions at either end and a central ornament just above the forehead (all three ornaments further adorned by an impressed dot motif). Her body displays traces of a red-hued pigment - see the striations across her legs especially, suggesting that she was brightly painted at one point. Meticulously-detailed and elegantly presented, this is a wonderful example of Tlatilco sculpture! Size: 2.675" W x 5.75" H (6.8 cm x 14.6 cm); 6.25" H (15.9 cm) on included custom stand.
