**Originally Listed At $300**

Roman Empire, Holy Land, ca. 1st century CE. A pair of pottery vessels characteristic of daily life in the Roman provinces of the Levant. The set comprises a wide-bodied ribbed jar with a short neck and flared rim, together with a tall conical beaker with ridged walls and a broad, thickened lip. The jar displays evenly spaced horizontal ribbing that reinforces its structure while providing a pleasing decorative rhythm, likely serving as a storage container for oil, grain, or other household provisions. The beaker, with its tapering form and pronounced mouth, may have functioned as a drinking or pouring vessel, its surface ridges lending both strength and grip. Size of larger (blackware): 6.4" Diameter x 4.7" H (16.3 cm x 11.9 cm); of taller (redware): 4.2" Diameter x 5.9" H (10.7 cm x 15 cm)

Such ceramics illustrate the blend of Roman utilitarian design with local Levantine traditions, embodying the material culture of communities living in Judea and surrounding regions at the dawn of the Common Era. Their earthy tones, handmade construction, and weathered surfaces testify to their age and enduring role in the rhythm of Roman daily life in the Holy Land.
