**Originally Listed At $350**

East Asia, Japan, Showa / WWII era, ca. 1942 to 1945 CE. A Type 30 bayonet with an iron scabbard, designed for use with the Arisaka rifle, the primary service rifle of Imperial Japanese forces from the late 19th century through World War II. The bayonet features a straight, single-edged steel blade with a deep fuller, and a metal mounting mechanism at the hilt, including a groove and push-button release located at the end of the wooden grip panels to securely attach it to the rifle's lug. The crossguard includes a muzzle ring designed to fit over the rifle's barrel for added stability. The ricasso is stamped with overlapping circles and an arrow through an "M", the arsenal mark of Matsushita Kinzoku KK (Matsushita Metalworking Corp.), produced under contract for the Kokura Arsenal. The iron pommel is also marked with a Japanese character and serial number. Size in sheath: 20.5" L x 3.75" W (52.1 cm x 9.5 cm)

The Type 30 bayonet was manufactured from 1897 to 1945 with numerous adaptations; the absence of the earlier J-shaped quillon guard suggests this example was produced after 1942, during the late-war period when production was streamlined to meet wartime demands.
